How to use a Dolly Track in Unity

Dolly tracks are used in film to have a smooth camera movement. With game development, designing your tracks can be very flexible. Let me show you how. First, create a Timeline.

Now, let’s create a Dolly Track from Cinemachine -> Create Dolly Camera with Track.

Then, I made the Virtual Camera look at the Security Desk.

On the dolly track, I added another waypoint and changed resolution to 1 to make track straight.

Then, I positioned each waypoint. You can use the Move tool, or click the waypoint, direct the scene and press Ctrl+Shift+F.

Then, I added the Main Camera and the Virtual Cam to the Timeline. I also made three key frames on Virtual Cam animation to switch waypoints in the dolly track.

Now the camera is now able to focus on the security desk as it moves from one waypoint to another.

Now, you can make the track curvy by increasing resolution, tweaking waypoint positions and even adding more waypoints.

Now, camera can go around on a curve without hitting the security desk.
